-
Shaving and waxing of the genital area can cause microscopic tears, abrasions and scrapes in your skin that provides an ideal entry point for STD viruses.
-
Condoms are only 30% effective in protecting against the transmission of Genital Herpes according to a recent study published in the Archives of Internal Medicine.
-
Condoms do not fully protect you against Genital Herpes (HSV II) and Human Papilloma Virus (HPV or Genital Warts) because these viruses can infect areas not covered by a condom.
-
If you have Genital Herpes, you can spread the disease even if you are not having symptoms and even if you have never had an outbreak.
-
People infected with Genital Herpes can be contagious three to five days before an outbreak.
-
About 16% or about one out of six people 14 to 49 years of age have a Genital Herpes infection.*
-
Approximately 19 million new STD infections will occur this year alone, almost half of them among young people ages 15 to 24.*
-
Having Genital Herpes can make you two to five times more susceptible to HIV infection if you are exposed to the virus during a sexual encounter.
-
More than 80% of the people who have the Genital Herpes (HSV II) virus do not know they are infected.*
